Accepting Allah’s Plan & The Beauty of Qadr

Bismillah

A Reflection Inspired by “Healing the Emptiness” by Yasmin Mogahed

There are days when Allah places a lesson right in front of you — at the exact moment your heart needs it most. Today was one of those days for me.

I learnt something truly profound, something that touched the softest part of my heart.

We go through life gripping tightly to our plans. We have a picture in our minds of how things should unfold, how people should behave, and how life should look. And when reality doesn’t match that picture, we feel lost… confused… even a little heartbroken.

But today, Allah gently reminded me of something powerful:
I need to let go. I need to surrender. I need to trust Him completely.

A Moment of Reflection with “Healing the Emptiness”

While reading Healing the Emptiness: A Guide to Emotional and Spiritual Wellbeing by Yasmin Mogahed, I came across the hardships of the Prophets — particularly the story of Prophet Yunus (AS). It’s a story many of us know, yet sometimes we forget the depth of its meaning.

Imagine being alone in the belly of a whale.
Darkness upon darkness.
No exit, no movement, no one to call except Allah.

Yet in this unimaginable moment, Prophet Yunus (AS) did not give up hope.

He surrendered.

And he called upon Allah with the powerful dua:

“There is no deity worthy of worship except You. Indeed, I was among the wrongdoers.”
Surah Al-Anbiya 21:87

This moment made me pause.

Yunus (AS) knew what our hearts often forget:
Allah is in complete control — and only He can deliver us from what we feel trapped in.

When Life Doesn’t Go According to Plan

Reading this reminded me of all the times I felt stuck in life.
All the moments where I couldn’t see a way out.
All the nights I cried trying to understand “why”.

Maybe… just maybe… what I really needed was to surrender.

Not giving up — but letting go.
Releasing my tight grip on what I wanted, and embracing what Allah had already written with perfect wisdom and mercy.

Because the truth is:

🌙 It didn’t go according to my plan.
It went according to Allah’s plan.

And His plan is always better.

A Reminder for Your Heart

So today, I’m reminding myself — and you — to breathe.
To soften.
To trust the One who sees every tear, every fear, and every silent hope.

May Allah fill our hearts with contentment, guide us gently toward what He has written for us, and make us pleased with His Qadr in every season of our lives.
